Sunday night was Elwood Blues Club’s first birthday at their current venue, the Greyhound Hotel. What a fantastic way to celebrate with the in your face Chigaco Blues of Greg Dodd and Dan Dinnen. Couple this with exceptional sets by jammers (particularly Christine Manetta singing The Doors) and you have an electric evening.
Every Sunday night from 5.30 people… get on it.. it’s exceptional!!
I hadn’t seen Matt play since he was a university and was interested to see how the years had been used. Of course, he didn’t disappoint – A brilliant guitarist and soulful singer. If you get the chance, don’t hesitate to be entertained by him

It’s been quite some time since I’ve been to Elwood Blues Club and I had missed it. Sunday was another excellent night hosted by the powerful Tracey Miller, raunching it up with the best of them! If you haven’t done it yet, get yourselves down to the Greyhound Hotel in St Kilda and join some of the best blues musicians in Australia every Sunday evening. You won’t be disappointed!

It’s great to have a band produce really good music – even better when they sell it brilliantly on stage. These guys are fantastic to listen to and to watch.. the interactions between them is irresistible!
I finally got to see these guys live and at a nice fun venue too. Great night of music. I am a little out of practice with band shots and its taking a while to get back into it, but a hell of a lot of fun anyway. These are just a few quick edits..
Blues singer of the year awards at Greyhound Hotel. This was the cream of blues players and just an amazing night of entertainment. Won by the personable Rod Payne and band, it really was hard to pick a winner. The venue was bursting at the seams with appreciative blues lovers and there wasn’t a face to be seen without a broad grin. Excellent! A tough night for photographers, trying to squeeze long lens past enthusiastic audiences… no matter…
