Campbell

This is Campbell “The Swaggy”. I’ve seen Campbell around at lots of music festivals over the years, as I am sure many of you have. Campbell walks the country, north to south, from festival to festival, to set up his swag on a patch of grass and recite wonderful stories and histories of Australia to any who will listen. Over the years, I have listened with half an ear or just walked on by. This year, at Queenscliff Music Festival, I sat down and really listened to his prose. What a font of history and experience this man is!

What I find sad is the number of people who, like myself, walk on by and ignore this wonderful fellow perched on the side of the road. So, I would like to urge everyone who runs into Campbell to stop for a minute or two and listen to what he has to say. You might well find you stop for quite a bit longer! In-between his stories, shake his hand, say hello and ask him where he’s been. He is a gentle soul with a friendly disposition. Do these things and I think you might find your life that little bit richer.I might add, Campbell does a lot of charity work for The Starlight Foundation and Fred Hollows Foundation. He didn’t tell me this of course, but others have let me know.
